Comparing Apple and The Gap on Black Friday

As my regular readers know, I left my position at Cheezburger (read more about that here), and since I’d been using a computer that belonged to the company, this meant that I needed to buy myself a new machine.

The Apple Store at Bellevue Square

Apple was having a “Black Friday Sale” and Lisa, my wife, needed to return a few things to The Gap which she’d ordered for the kids by mail.  We figured that the mayhem of the mall would calm down around dinner time, so we headed over there at about 7pm.

Turns out the mall was still a zoo at 7pm, but that’s not the interesting thing I want to share with you.

What’s interesting is this: I spent 12 minutes in the Apple Store and spent just a little under $2000 on a new computer.  (I knew exactly what I wanted, so there was no actual shopping involved, just buying.)  Then, we went to The Gap where Lisa and the kids spent 45 minutes looking at sale items and spent $160.

And you wonder why AAPL is the most valuable company in the world?
